Unlawful for 17 years- S61 case
Our firm recently dealt with a Samoan client who has been living unlawfully in New Zealand for 17 years.
Even though she contacted several Immigration Advisors/Lawyers in an attempt to obtain a Work Visa, the applications were not accepted and/or declined by Immigration New Zealand.
We lodged a S61 request with INZ as we believed that her case was genuine and she was a in a stable partnership with her NZ citizen husband.
A strong and detailed description of our client’s circumstances and the reasons for lodging a S61 request with evidence were submitted to INZ. After a long wait for 17 years our client was granted a Work Visa under partnership for 1 year. She is now able to go back and meet her family and friends in Samoa. She couldn’t take a chance earlier as she was worried whether she would be able to come back to NZ to be with her husband again.
We are happy that we could help our client become lawful again.
