Interim Visa - Reconsiderations - a New Opportunity

Recently the INZ introduced a new way that Interim Visas work after declined the visa. Now Interim Visas are deemed to expire 21 days after the main visa application is declined.

The most important effect is that the applicant can apply to have the decline decision reconsidered within 14 days. Under the previous regime, they would become over stayers as soon as the decision was made and can only request under s61.

INZ fees and levies changes will take effect from 5 November 2018. The new fees and levies will take effect from Monday, 5 November 2018.

Summary of changes:

What happens if the application is received by INZ before 5 November, but not processed until after?

If you are applying online, if you start your application on 4 November, but don’t complete it until after midnight New Zealand time, then the new fee and levy will apply.
