The student-focused event organised by the Hind youth council was held on the 24th November 2019 at the AUT City Campus. The main purpose of the event was to provide guidance to the younger generation to pave their way to a successful future. It was a very enlightening program covering key topics that will support you in building your Kiwi future. Raj Singh, the principal of Legal Associates was one of the guest speakers at the event.
The key topics of the seminar were “Effective communication” presented by Nischal Pai, Head of Learning Academy for Douglas Pharmaceuticals, “The Power of Networking” presented by Rani Nalam, Senior Accountant Cost Analytics, ANZ Bank and “Immigration Law Updates” presented by Raj Singh.
The event was mainly focused on the international students in New Zealand. Thus, the presentation on the changes of the Work Visa category done by Raj was very productive and rewarding for the young people who attended the event.
The presentation mainly discussed the timeline and the policy changes that took place recently with regard to the Work Visas. The key points discussed by Raj included:
17 September 2019
Changes to Temporary work visas announced
7 October 2019
first changes that took place
29 October 2019
Changes in low skill jobs
Changes regarding low-skilled or high-skilled job based on the pay of the job.
Replacing 6 temporary work visas with a new temporary work visa
Improving the process that employers use to recruit migrant workers for temporary work.
Accreditation of Employers
The event was indeed a great endorsement for the students who completed their studies and starting to think about the next steps of their career. Immigration being a contemporary topic at the moment, the opportunity to interact with the presenters during and after the event was an excellent opportunity for the participants. At the end of the event Raj was delighted to answer and clarify immigration matters bought upon by the participants.
